Westfield State University PR students welcome help to provide luggage for foster care children through two April events

Westfield – Members of Westfield State University’s Advanced Public Relations course have helped organize two events in support of the non-profit Angels Take Flight, which raises money to provide respectable luggage for foster children.

A fundraising event will be held Thursday, April 25, from noon to 7 p.m. at Tim and Jeanne’s Dining Commons on the Westfield State campus. The event will feature games, a raffle, and the chance to win prizes.

The second event will be held Saturday, April 27, 1–3 p.m. at the Amelia Park Children’s Museum, 29 S Broad St., Westfield. While enjoying the museum’s exhibits, youth in attendance may participate in crafts while the message and mission of Angels Take Flight is shared.

Both events are open to the public. All donations and proceeds from the event will go directly to Angels Take Flight to purchase luggage.

According to childtrends.org, more than 10,000 youth are in the Massachusetts foster care system. Angels Take Flight recognizes that these children move among foster homes and often carry their belongings in trash bags. Angels Take Flight restores dignity, pride, and positive self-esteem by providing foster care children with their own luggage and essential transition items for these challenging times. Westfield State’s Advanced Public Relations course partners with a local non-profit each semester through its civic engagement program in an effort to help the community.
