Whether you like it or not, America has a new team. The Patriots defeated the Dallas Cowboys 13 to 9 Sunday, improving to 10-1 on the year. The last time the Patriots have lost to the Cowboys was in 1996. Sorry Dallas, your time has passed.
It was a sloppy and close game all the way. Had the weather not been such a factor it could have been a completely different looking game, however the weather did favor the Patriots. It slowed down both offenses and made it more of a defensive game.
The play of the game no doubt came on a New England blocked punt, by none other than special teams legend, Mathew Slater. The block put Brady on the Cowboys 12-yard line. Brady then hooked up with rookie N’keal Harry for his first career touchdown. Harry being 6’4 and 225 lbs could make him Brady’s new #1 red-zone target.
The Patriots offense may look a little slow now but once and hopefully when everyone is healthy, there is more than enough weapons for Brady to make this offense as dangerous as it was at the start of the year. Both Mohamed Sanu and Phillip Dorsett were inactive this week, along with tight end Ryan Izzo.
Sony Michel saw success rushing for 85-yards on 20 carries while Julian Edelman got most of the receiving yards catching 8 balls for 93-yards. This formula seems to be the one that works the most, although I would like to see both James White and Rex Burkhead getting more touches. Jakobi Myers also continues to contribute getting 4 catches for 74-yards.
The Patriots are heading to Texas to take care on the state’s second team, The Houston Texans. The Texans are 7-4 on the year and are in need of a win if they want to keep playoff hopes alive with the AFC South being one of the most competitive divisions in football. The Patriots are potentially in position to clinch a playoff spot if they win. It’s only a matter of time.
