A remarkable book called Good Morning Monster, written by American author and clinical psychologist Catherine Gildiner, dives into Gildiner’s most heroic patients and their emotional recovery.
In the book, Gildiner addresses many psychological disorders such as multiple personality disorder, dissociative identity disorder, narcissism, and more, as well as why and how they occur and how to overcome these obstacles. The book also provides descriptive advice on how to overcome trauma and difficult people in your life.
There are five parts of this book, with each part involving a different patient of hers and their intense and mind-blowing life story. Throughout the book, the reader unravels with Gildiner what exactly is going on with her patient, almost as though you are reading the mind of a clinical psychologist.
Personally this book has taught me a lot, not only from understanding the therapist perspective but also from hearing such terrific backgrounds of her patients. Hearing how they overcame their pain really moved me.
This book is very inspiring and uplifting but takes a very emotional toll due to intense details and gripping stories. I recommend this book to students who are interested in psychology and the therapy field, but also to anyone who wants to be inspired and amazed.
