Westfield State’s Residence Hall Association put together another fun event Saturday night, Nov. 2. Students were invited to Scanlon’s living room to participate in a Wine Glass Paint Night.
All WSU students were welcome to paint wine glasses and mason jars. The evening was filled with throwback tunes, colors, and Mac & Cheese. Scanlon RA, Ashley, informed students this was the first time this particular event was being held. She also hinted at the possibility of the continuation of similar events depending on how people responded.
Paint bottles and compliments on designs were swapped across the tables as students personalized their glasses. A group of mostly freshman students agreed the creativity aspect was a big motivator in regards to participation.
One particular student, Mikayla admitted, “We go to every one,” referring to similar events. Another student, Molly expressed her wish for more events, “Especially on the weekends because there’s nothing to do.”
However another student admitted coming more at random. Indicating that the aspect of arts and crafts, was not a big influence on her.
Multiple students agreed they found creative activities such as these therapeutic or a release, while others appeared indifferent.
The volume of the music descended by the time students put the finishing touches on their glassware. The two hours had gone by quicker than anticipated, and students left with their new dorm decor, customized gifts, and pencil holders.
