At about 3:30pm Thursday, 9/19, a body was found in Stanley Park. The incident has been ruled a homicide and an active investigation is underway. The body has not yet been identified.
State police have assured there is no threat to Westfield State, nor the surrounding area. Just as well, it has been confirmed the incident has no affiliation with the university according to the City of Westfield Police Department.
The body was found near Gate 4 at the park, located on Kensington Avenue. This has resulted in the closure of the road until further notice.
Focus has been made around a wooded area on the east side of the park located at the corner of Kensington Avenue and Granville Road. Tarps have been hung up to block the public’s view of the scene, and a mobile investigation unit is parked nearby.
