Selena: The Series

Selena%3A+The+Series

Get your dancing shoes on ladies. Netflix just released the official trailer for Selena: The Series, starring Walking Dead actress Christain Serratos.

The commercial starts with the leading actress laying on the ground going over Selena’s lines. Then she is being called to the sound stage and greets her fellow actors who play Selena’s father and the young version of herself. After that it leads to her singing Selena’s hit song ‘Como la Flor’. The show will run for two seasons and production will be starting around next month in Mexico. The release date is still in the works.

For people who do not know, Selena was the biggest Latino crossover artist, but sadly as she rose in fame she was shot and killed by her business partner, Yolanda Saldívar, who is serving a life sentence in prison. Selena’s top album, Dreaming of You, was released the same year she passed and the album made it to the Billboard 200, which is the first for any Latino artist.

This story was originally told in 1997 directed by Gregory Nava and Selena being played by Jennifer Lopez. This was Lopez’s break out role. Will Serratos be able to keep Selena’s name alive like Lopez did? We will find out soon.
